EUは製品を「デザイン からサステイナブルにす る」指令を検討

欧州委員会(EU Commission)は、持続 可能な製品のためのEUエコデザイン枠組みの改訂・拡大版をまとめた。この提案は、鉄鋼、アルミニウム、繊維製品(特に衣料品と履物)、家具、タイヤ、洗剤、塗料、潤滑油、化学薬品など、さまざまな分野と製品群を対象としている。欧州議会(EU Parliament)で新ルールが採択されれば、売れ残った繊維製品や電化製品の廃棄が禁止される。また、製品を長持ちさせ、修理やアップグレード、リサイクルすることを企業に義務づけることになる。現行のEUエコデザイン指令は、エネルギー使用製品の効率改善に限られたより狭 い範囲のものである。

The EU aims to make products sustainable by design

The EU Commission has proposed a revised and expanded version of the EU eco-design framework for sustainable products. The proposal targets a range of sectors and product groups including iron, steel, aluminium, textiles (notably garments and footwear), furniture, tyres, detergents, paints, lubricants and chemicals.

The new rules, if adopted by the EU Parliament, would ban the destruction of unsold textiles and electronic appliances. They would also require companies to make products last longer and be easier to repair, upgrade, and recycle. The current Eco-design Directive mainly targets the efficiency of energy-using products.
